    Hi all,

I would really appreciate peoples' insight as to what this plant is. I was walking in the woods yesterday and stumbled upon it. It really is so beautiful and I would love to know what it is. Any help is appreciated, thanks! Some perhaps helpful context, I live in Southeastern Massachusetts, USA.
    Thanks!

Your pic shows a single twig with alternate leaf buds and a leaf bud starting to open
But to attempt an accurate id it would really help me see what the actual shape of the leaf is like.

Almost certainly something in the Juglandaceae -- plants like hickories and walnuts. Maybe if I was local I'd know it, but I would need a few more clues -- will you be able to get a photo of it again in a few days so I can see the leaves?

Also, it is definitely beautiful, I agree!
