This tree is 3 or 4 years old. He is 2 meters tall and the trunk is around 2 cm in diameter. No thorn. Non deciduous. White flowers and thick leaves Thank you for your help.
Your welcome Andre, yes stellata has white flowers. It grows 15-20' high and spread avg. of 15'. Janet
Magnolia stellata is deciduous and that is not what this looks like anyway. Your shrub bears some resemblance to Photinia serratifolia (P. serrulata) but it does not have sawtooth leaf margins. The question is can this species also have leaf margins like those shown? http://images.google.com/images?hl=...tnG=Search&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi
I clicked onto the photo and upon inspection of further detail (the leaf margin) It appears not to be Magnolia. Janet
My thoughts were exactly as Ron's. I doubt that it can be P. serratifolia or the very similar P. x fraseri, but it could be some other Photinia sp. -- or maybe something else altogether. It has nothing to do with Magnolia or Magnoliaceae. Another thought: we don't know what size these leaves are. If under 2 in/5 cm long, what about a Pyracantha, such as P. rogersiana?
Thank you for your help. Leaves are 6 cm long and 2,5 cm wide. All are serrated. I'll post a picture of flowers as soon as it comes.
