What type of thistle?

    Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, Zone 7
    I don't want these in my yard, but 2 sneaked in. I wanted to see them bloom because I've never seen one bloom. One is purple and the other looks like it will bloom pale yellow. They are 5'5" right now, and those thorns are the longest and sharpest I've ever come across.

    Identity?

    Cirsium vulgare.

    If it is Cirsium vulgare, aka bull thistle they seem to be a bit easier to get rid of than the Canada thistle that keeps sneaking across the border. ;))) However Don't let it go to seed! Pull it out and burn it! barb
