What type of ivy is this, it was growing on the side of the sidewalk in the city and I got a pinch of it and I rooted it in water then planted it. when it gets bigger I am going to transplant it in a hanging basket and enjoy it on my porch. Any ideas??
Looks like a simple form of Hedera helix. Common name English ivy. See... http://images.google.com/imgres?img...n-gb:IE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7SUNA_en-GB&sa=N&um=1
Ditto to Hedera helix. The common name is Common Ivy: http://ip30.eti.uva.nl/BIS/flora.php?selected=beschrijving&menuentry=soorten&id=3222 "English Ivy" is an unauthorised American re-naming contrary to the wishes of the naming authority where the species is native (the Botanical Society of the British Isles http://www.bsbi.org.uk/html/database.html ).
Keep it contained! And watch for escaped plants! Here in the Pac. NW it is almost as bad as your Kudzu if it goes wild. It climbs up and kills trees & chokes out desirable plants. I don't think it is as fast growing as Kudzu, but in the long run "it's not nice"! Bl
Over in our part you dont see ivy nor kudzoo but up the road a fue miles there is kudzoo problems!!! I only see ivy in hanging baskets and shade spots in the city "which I rarely go to". :) ;)
