What tropical tree - small purple fruits

    This tree has smooth mottled bark and distinctive purple fruits around 2.5cm. Growing at one of the overlooks to Waiman Canyon on Kauai.

    Thanks, Michael. I looked up dozens of names from a list of likely candidates last night, but that was the one I didn't check out. The common name of Strawberry Guava didn't do it for me.
