Can anyone recognize this plant. It is growing in partial shade. I like this plant because it grows very fast and is quite large. I want to transplant it to an area I need more privacy. The leaves are almost 10 inches across and the plant is over 6 feet tall.

I also would like to know if is OK to have around pets. I have a large dog who likes to investigate.

    Thanks.

Castor bean plant or Castor oil plant (Ricinus communis).
This article describes the toxicity of the plant:

In short, the greens are mostly safe, whereas the beans may be fatal.
