what kind of fruit is this

I was walking by this bush then I saw these fruits on it. It looks like lychee but it's not.
It's quite soft and also the flesh inside is yellow.
What kind of fruit is this?
Is this fruit poisonous?

Fruit of Cornus kousa, edible.

 

Ditto to Cornus kousa. Not only edible, but can be delicious (though this does vary a bit from tree to tree).
