What kind of flowering tree do I have?

Discussion in 'Plants: Identification' started by Unregistered, Aug 31, 2004.

  1. I recently bought a house with a number of trees and have identified all but one. The tree in question has a green trunk which is covered with thorns. The trunk has a slight elliptical shape and tapers as you look from bottom to top (much like the neck of a pop bottle). The flowers are made up of five petals and the petals are purpleish around the edges and white in the middle. The tree is in bloom now and is a favorite of humming birds.
    Thanks for your help.
