While strolling about Central Saanich today we happened upon a beautiful leafed vine by the roadside. Can anyone tell me what they think it might be? And can it be propogated by a cutting this time of year (Autumn)? Thanks.
Thanks for identifying this vine for me folks. Debby, it seems even easier to find along side the roadway ;-) As for propagation, I assume from various literature that HW cuttings can be made now and have a good chance of rooting if kept in moist soil inside a greenhouse and away from frost ??
"Parthenocissus propagation" should bring up multiple hits. Not sure about needing to root hardwoods under glass, especially when taken from such a hardy plant. The climate out here on the coast is far milder than what this plant is able to withstand.
Thanks for the tip! I followed some online suggestions and the cuttings are now in a nursery pot with soil, and rooting hormone on the tips of the cuttings. We shall see if they take off at this late in the season.
