Being from Vancouver Island I am loathed to have to live in Edmonton so far from my beloved coastal forests. I potted a sample of this little plant I came across in the old 2nd growth forests near Gold River, it was growing in thick moss in a soil of decomposed fir needles in deep shade. It's a small plant, the leaves don't get any bigger than 2 inches long. It seems blissfully unaware of its' move and is growing well in my house but every time I look at it I wonder: What is its' name, if it has one? Does anyone know? :) I should like to think of it as something other than just "MyLittlePieceOfHome".
It looks a lot like the Rattlesnake Plantain (Goodyera oblongifolia) that grows abundantly in the Cascade mountains of Washington State. I believe it is actually an orchid (if that's what it is).
