I bought a new house and found this plant in my garden. Not the evergreen, just the beautiful leaves on the bottom. I don't know if I should transplant it or leave it where it is because I don't know how big it can get. I live in the East, near Montreal, Quebec. Can anyone help? Thank you. Zelda.
Thank you for your quick reply. I looked up images and, sure enough, there it is! The one that most resembles mine is Aesculus Hippocastanum or horse chestnut. Now that I know it can grow into a big tree, I'll put it in an appropriate location. Thanks again for your help. Zelda
Majestic specimen commanding a large area in time. If you think you want to try it note the conkers (fruits) are like balls and fall suddenly from the tree in a peculiarly abrupt way, as though being picked and thrown down by monkeys. I find this phenomenon somewhat unpleasant to be around, myself.
That's a very interesting and useful comment. I thank you for that and will make sure to take it into consideration when I plant it. Thanks so much! Diane
