This picture was taken a couple of days ago. The plant was about 10 inches high when planted 3 years ago. As you can see, they are fast growers. Does anyone have any idea what this might be? Someone said it may be a type of sunflower, but it looks more like a huge daisy. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

One of the perennial sunflowers, such as Helianthus salicifolius or H. maximillianii.

Perhaps Helianthus angustifolius (swamp sunflower), which is common in Florida.

After doing some research, I think it may be Helianthus tuberosus L. -
Jerusalem artichoke. Due to the height, over 8ft. tall, it rules out Swamp Sunflower. Thanks for the replies, it gave me a direction to go in. Jerusalem Artichoke is considered "invasive". What exactly does that mean? It sounds ominous.

I wouldn't rule out the swamp sunflower because of height. It grows to 6-8 feet and when I lived in Georgia I encountered taller than that. It also has narrow leaves like your plant.

That's what I get for believing everything I read on the USDA site. They stated that 5.6' was the max height for the Swamp Sunflower. Thanks again for your help. BTW, are Swamp Sunflowers considered invasive?

I don't think they are invasive. I cannot be certain of the ID. That was just a guess, because I know the plant is commonly grown in your area.
