Hello, I was hoping someone would be able to help me identify this plant. I bought a children’s movie that contained a seed packet for a “butterfly garden” and thought "what the heck let’s see if they grow". Only one plant grew and three years later this is what it has turned into. For the longest time it only had two long branches, but this spring it grew two new ones. They are long and just keep growing taller, until I had to stake them. New branches only grow from the base of the plant so far and there are no blooms. It’s growing in the eastern part of Arizona, it loves the sun but cannot stand the intensity of the Arizona sun for too long. I just hope I haven’t been tending to a weed all this time! Thanks for the help.

It might be Rhus lancea, African sumac--a weedy landscape tree in Arizona.
