I'm new to the west coast & B.C. area and wondered if someone could help me identify this flower?

Hi flowerchild, that looks like Tithonia, likely Tithonia rotundifolia 'Torch'. Tithonia is a warm season annual native to Mexico and Central America, commonly called Mexican sunflower. The plant is a bit awkward in the flowerbed but the flowers are dazzling and make good cut-flowers. I particularly like the deep brilliant orange of 'Torch' contrasted with deep purple flowers. It is easy to grow from seed and is generally available at garden centres or from seed companies.
