I bought this plant last month. The fruit were pinky and turned woody brown after a week. I don't know how to grow this plant, but after giving more water new leaves are appearing.
Thank you, Lila. Now I know what to search in the internet. Wikipedia calls pernettya Gaultheria mucronata. From phagat.com, I found that Pernettya fruits are purple to dark red. While from other sources, the Pernettya leaves and stems are succulent. Pernettya fruits are in groups of berries. My plant has different foliage and fruits color and structure.
The shrub is a bit woody and so does the fruit. The fruits turned as hard as stone when they go brown. A vendor I met said that the plant is of Jasmine family and has white flowers.
Oh, yesyes, really not Pernettya... :((( But it's a very interesting plant, so I hope someone can ID it!!! :)
This may be totally wrong , BUT , the leaves and branch structure look like Serissa foetida to me . Not sure about the fruit though. http://www.pendernursery.com/Images/Serissa-foetidus-%27Variegata%27.jpg Crush a leaf , or scratch a root . Does it smell bad >? Ps is does have small white flowers .
Thank you, Skunkyjoe. The trunk and leaves confim it is a Serissa. I have seen another vendors who sell Serissa foetida with those white flowers. but the fruits.... I have not seen anything like this anywhere else. Maybe this is a variegated Serissa.
