These "plants" have been growing up every year. They start growing in the spring and they turn brown and die in the fall. They grow to as much as 6-7 feet tall and sprout anywhere from 3 to 6 branches. When they die, they lose their leaves, turn brown. They are like dead tree branches, once they're dead, they're dead. I pull out all of the dead ones and new ones regrow in the spring. They are hollow inside(dead and alive) except for some little spongy areas(that is what is shown in the pic of the 'cane-dead stem). They look to me like they are some type of cane plants, but I have not been able to identify them. Location: 40353 - behind the house.
Looks similar on a couple of the pictures that I looked up for that name. However, this cane plant does not flower. Only the leaves and a few limbs grow on this.
It might take a few more years to reach maturity. In the meantime, it spreads agressively through vegetative means.
