    Michael is right. They can be somewhat controlled by pulling off the seed pods before they mature. When the pod is ripe it will shoot seeds in all directions, hence the common name "touch me not". I have seen them get 6 ft. tall in the San Juan Islands. Another common name "Policeman's Helmet" because they look sort of look like one.
