This plant was blooming in Charleston, SC last fall. I got some seed pods to try to grow a few myself, but I don't even know what it is. If anyone could help me identify it, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

    Maybe Cassia surattensis?

It would seem unlikey as Winter temperatures in the USA restrict this species
to South Florida, South Texas, Coastal California, Puerto Rico and Hawaii.
If not S. corymbosa it could be the other semi-cold hardy S.pendula.

Thanks so much for everyone's help. You put me on the right track, and I am now convinced that it is the senna pendula based on pictures that I have seen on the internet.

    Thanks!!
