I'm getting conflicting opinions as to what this is. Some say a Quince, others a fruit blossom, possibly Apple. I love to shoot flowers (with my camera) but I know very little about them. Which is why I joined this site. Thanks!
Probably Prunus x blireiana. If not that, maybe its parent P. mume. I'd be able to tell better if more of it was visible.
Prunus x blireiana is a type of purpleleaf plum. P. mume is Japanese apricot. To check these suggestions you would presumably be looking them up under their botancial names (the best way) given on web sites with photos and descriptions to compare against. Common names used would be discovered as part of this process. Botanical names were developed in the first place because common names are often not specific enough in their application, even within the same language.
Thanks Ron. As I said before, I'm new to all of this. I'm hoping to learn a lot here and I appreciate the information.
