    Hello,

Today my husband and I ran across this on our property on Whidbey Island, WA. We know it's not one of the million blackberries that we seem to have. I think it's an escaped raspberry?....

I'd really appreciate an identification. Sorry there is no scale indicator, but it's in front of a letter sized sheet, folded in eighths.

    Thank you in advance.

    Linda

Definitely a Rubus and not a Rosa.

Thank you! Possibly Rubus leucodermis. Time will tell.

That was my first thought but I wasn't sure after looking at your picture. Looking again today that seems pretty likely. If it is that one plant will be a vase-like clump of erect then arching stems, unless mown off or pushed down. Species name refers to whitishness of younger stems.
