What is a thread? The UBC Botanical Garden forums (and indeed, most other forums) can be thought of hierarchically: The bulletin board (collectively also known as the forums) consists of separate forums (e.g., Hortboard or Plant Identification). Each forum consists of many threads. Each thread consists of 1 to many posts. Generally, a thread is initiated with a question or a comment about a topic that has not been discussed elsewhere or that has not been discussed for quite some time. People then reply to that initial post or the subsequent posts, creating a "thread" of discussion.
