Hi - A few weeks ago (early to mid-April), I went out to take pictures of the many many beautiful flowering trees. I have identified all except for these 2. I am in Charlottesville VA. The white flowered tree is a fairly large tree. The zoomed out picture is a row of several, the walkway next to it is about 1.5 stories high. It is on the UVa campus, so it may not necessarily be native to the area. The other very noticable feature is its strong (and not necessarily pleasant) scent. The flowers have been out for about a month now and are hardly fading. The other is a decorative bush of some sort. I have seen several of them but they are all planted right next to houses. The ones that I have seen range from about 4 ft to 8 ft tall. The flowers are a bright, almost deep red and lasted about 2 weeks. Does anybody know what these trees are?
Awesome, thanks. I am thinking Chinese photinia after some googling with your guidance. I will have to look tomorrow. Why don't tree id guides ask if the tree has flowers?
