My son brought home some seed pods and I do not know what they are from. He said it is about 4ft tall with purple flowers shooting out in different directions. Can anyone identify them?

    Thanks,
    Dee

No, he says that isnt what it looks like. He now described it as one plant like a bush with a bunch of stems with purple flowers on each one.

    thanks

Let's try that again. Look at this image of Cleome spinosa on Wikipedia. Not the right plant?

    cleome is easy to grow.

those pods aren't quite ripe, though, so the seeds may not be matured and may not germinate.

you let the pods ripen until they've started turning brown and you need to cut them off before they open up and disperse the seeds. and they DO disperse!!! they really travel!!
