What are these outdoor perennials?

    Maple Ridge, BC, Cda
    The fern-like plant is growing in a shady spot in my flowerbed and I don't know what it is. And the plants with the purple flowers blossom mid-summer every year in the sun.

    The first image looks like yarrow, Achillea sp. of some kind. If so, it will be happier with more sunlight.

    I will be interested to find out what the second plant is.
