What are these NZ flowers please? 1. Puya Alpestris from South America. 2. Echium Vulgare - roadside weed. 3. Pachstachys lutea (some people also call it lollipop plant) from Peru. Thank you all very much for your help. Yes I visited NZ earlier this year and have got 100's of plant photos but only these 3 without a name!
Wow, the first ones colour! Second one is common on roadsides Echium vulgare as Micheal mentioned. third one, also a beauty, no idea. Were you visiting there recently?
Number 2 looks like a species of Puya, #3 is Pachystacys aurea or yellow candle. I don't think either plant is native to N.Z.
I think mplant means #1 is puya, I just looked it up, its Puya Alpestris. From South America. #3 I looked up is Pachstachys lutea ( some people also call it lollipop plant) from Peru. mplant, your really good at ID's!
Thanks for sorting that out Carol. I posted my reply too quickly and my memory swapped aurea for lutea.
