Looks like creeping buttercup to me. This likes damp, heavy soil. There are a lot of fallen leaves in the picture, if a location is shady other plants will do better than - or at least well enough to compete with - lawn grasses. For a solid turf with minimal or no weeds you need full sun, frequent mowing and litter from trees and shrubs kept at bay.
