I am writing a piece about plants growing down inside a road water drain. The photos show the cast iron grating, a close up of part of it showing some plants, and two similar photos taken through the grating into the dark chamber. Location: Quiet country lane, but opposite a church, so some human footfall, on a hill where occasional vehicles pass, and where rain water naturally runs down, Location: Godstone, Surrey England. Photos taken about 14 days ago. Any ID for the plants most welcome. Thank you!
Pics 3-4 show Hart's-tongue Ferns Asplenium scolopendrium and young Male Ferns Dryopteris filix-mas. Not the first time I've seen these growing in drains!
