Found this on a hike through some property I am looking to purchase. Sorry the pictures aren't good - forgot my camera and had to borrow one. The flowers are dark pink and look like hoods. They have a yellow, feathery stamen sticking out. The berries are two or three almost black berries "stuck" together.
I agree with Lonicera involucrata, bracted or twinflower honeysuckle... a common plant in the parkland.
Definitely. Occurs out here also. When someone suggests a plant for best results read descriptions instead of just looking at internet photos only.
Who said I wasn't reading descriptions? According to the descriptions, the flower still didn't look right. But, having looked again, I realize the problem is the flowers are old, mostly falling off, and the bracts are becoming predominant. It is indeed Lonicera involucrata. Thanks gb!!
