I bought this plant from a nursery 20 years ago. The nursery didn't know what it was either. It multiplies by underground shoots. The leaves are round, (about the size of a broom handle or slightly bigger) hard and spear like with very sharp tips. I have had to corral it in a tomatoe cage to prevent injuries to passerbys. I gave a shoot to someone in Florida and that plant lives outside and is thriving. This one has lived inside for the 20 years as it suffered a squirrel attack. This one has done quite well, grows slowly, requires very little care or water and has never flowered. What is it?

Looks at pictures of Sansieveria spp. Try a Google Image Search, for starters, or go to a library and look at them in A. Graf's Exotica .
