unknown plant

    This plant just popped up this year in my garden. I have no clue what it is. It does have a woody stem. Does anyone have a clue??

    Looks like something in the rose family to me - with that much woody stem, though, it would have to have been there at least a year already.

    Appears to be a Buckthorn, probably European Buckthorn, an invasive species in the East.....Rhamnus cathartica
