Hello! I was hoping someone could identify this kalanchoe that appeared in 2011 in my Vero Beach, Fl. garden. It seems to grow only near Kalanchoe gastonis-bonnieri. and in fact looks much like a very abbreviated version of it. It blooms small pink upright flowers. I've included pictures of 2 that I placed in pots, and one still in-ground. All pictures were taken in the past 3 days.
It looks very similar to K. marmorata in foliage, but the flowers you describe may not agree. There seems to be a possibility of accidental hybrids turning up in this group of Kalanchoes with plantlets on leaves.
I think that to draw such a conclusion you would need to see a well grown plant with properly formed inflorescence, then perhaps you might see whether it was intermediate in character. I should add that I am no Kalanchoe expert nor a specialist collector, though I have come across a good few species in my time.
Thanks again, Tony! I will keep my eyes on that flower (in the middle photo) to see exactly what they look like as more emerge. As I recall from the last bloom cycle, they were upward facing and each was on a very short stalk that barely broke the top of the surrounding leaves. In my mind I was caling them K. mamorata until I saw several pics of mamorata in bloom and realized the flowers didn't "match" in color or shape. Again, thanks for the help!
