This photo was taken in July near Rock Creek Vista (9190 feet), Custer National Forest, Montana. I know that the orange flower here is some sort of Senecio and the pale yellow flowers are probably some sort of Astralagus. Can you help me identify which type of each? Thank you.
Re: Unidentified high altitude Senecio and Astralagus, Custer National Forest, Montan The pale yellow one is Oxytropis, not Astragalus. Difficult from a photo - you need leaf counts and finer details, but I'd guess Oxytropis sericea. O. monicola is also possible... plus likely others I'm not familiar with. Perhaps Tephroseris lindstroemii for the composite?
Re: Unidentified high altitude Senecio and Astralagus, Custer National Forest, Montan Sorry if I broke a rule here. I am fairly new to this and just learning the ropes. I love this site and I hope that I did not offend anyone with the post that was deleted.
Re: Unidentified high altitude Senecio and Astralagus, Custer National Forest, Montan No offense is taken -- it's just a matter of practicality. Two separate conversations on the same topic leads to confusion.
