My grandmother gave these tubers to me before she move out of her house of 50 some odd yrs. i dont nknow what they are, but they seem to bloom better every year. They have long skinny leaves that seem to com up first,, they die and then a month or so later the main stalk grows up about 18 to 20in. And its light green in color with a hint of red in the stalk. At the top of the stalk comes out about 8 buds which blooms light pink flowers resembling a lily. I have looked and looked for the name of this flower. And it is now about 4yrs now. Please help!!! (have pix,,,trying to attach)
Nerine bowdenii My guess would be Nerine bowdenii. Photos and info here: http://www.manntaylor.com/plantweek25.html and here: http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=1674 It's blooming a bit earlier than usual this year on the west coast.
Others fitting this description are Amaryllis belladonna (now flowering in Seattle area) and Lycoris sqamigera. The Amaryllis has flowers that seem to me more likely to be described as lily-like than the spidery ones of the Nerine. If you look all three plants up on the internet you should be able to find photos of each fairly quickly.
