I found these two plants growing wild in the Mill Bay area on Vancouver Island.
The purple flowering one was growing in a field, and made a swathe of purple where the field was not ploughed.
The fern like structure was growing on a north facing slope along a narrow very shaded road.
I am wondering if anyone can identify them.
    Thank you

The first one is Lamium purpureum.

Possibly but when I looked up Lamium pupureum it seems to grow taller than this plant which was only about 15cm high, also the stems are quite purple, perhaps a slightly different plant?

There's nothing like it, it's just either early in the season or in suboptimal conditions. Height and stem colouration are very variable for many species.

Ok so the first flowering plant is lamium purpureum, any idea on what the moss/miniature fern-like plant is? It was growing prostrate forming a mat on the ground.

Thank you Ron, yes I also believe it is moss, just wondering what the name of the moss is as it is very different from the moss I have growing here. I am looking around on Google to see if I can find it, no luck so far.
