It seems these are both Deutzia, a plant I seem unable to learn to identify, so total guess on that - I would never have recognized them as such. Now I want to know if I've figured out the right IDs. If there are several in the running, just knowing that there's not an obvious ID would be fine. I found these in lanes between the Canada Line and VanDusen. This one I think could be Deutzia scabra 'Pride of Rochester'. And this I decided could be Deutzia 'Strawberry Fields', or is that more properly D. x hybrida 'Strawberry Fields'? I have no idea if these cultivars are likely to be found here.
I'd definitely agree with 'Strawberry Fields', especially with that arching growth, but I don't think 'Pride of Rochester' should have such clearly defined pink areas as in the middle photo. It could be 'Plena'.
Great, thanks Geoff. It seems from posted photos that 'Plena' has varying amounts of pink, from none to the clearly defined areas here. That would make it difficult to purchase (not that I personally am concerned about that), if one did or did not want pink.
