Tropical Vine ID, Help Plz

Hi this is my first post,

A friend of mine took this picture in the jungle of Panama and I've been searching high and low to find the scientific name for this beauty. If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it.

 

Maybe this should be moved to the stumper section, lol. My only far out guess is that it's in the Tropaeolaceae (nasturtium) family. Anyone have any clues or leads?

 

We've looked through our tropicals and vines books, and so far came up with zilch.

But it's one of the weirdest-looking things I've seen in a long time!

 

We have it Ecuador too, it's called "Corazon de Jesus" locally but nobody has been able to give me a scientific name....

 

i googled 'corazon de jesus plant' and came up with fuchsia begonia

 

I think it is Passiflora membranacea

 

mplant is correct! Passiflora membranacea it is. if i'd looked at a close-up of the fuchsia, i'd have realized that the flowers weren't the same.

 

And herein lies the problem with common names....

Wow, amazing thanks so much everyone for all the work that went into digging up this sucker. Now all I need to do is find a source of this plant to use in my work.

 

Good luck - perhaps try contacting Panamanian garden centres....
