I am a new member and would like some help identifying this tree (see attachment). Leaves are the size of three fingers. Curious red flower with parrot's beak. Produces 3-5 small marble sized brown seeds in a pod. Found in old neighborhood in Houston TX. Will try to attach picture. The tree was recently cut down for new home construction and I have some cuttings from the remaining trunk. Thanks. hmmm...manage attachments will only let me upload a single attachment. i have additional pics.
Thanks Michael F. for quick reply. I had never seen this tree before but apparently common in Houston area and available at several nurseries. Also known as Fireman's Cap, Cockspur Coral, Ceibo tree. I read that the seeds and leaves are quite poisonous. May be an issue for pets or small children. I think this specimen is Erythrina Crista-Galli based on internet pictures. Again thanks for quick response.
