    hello again

the city of delta have planted an orchard of lilac trees and other varieties, located off of 72 Avenue and around 114 street. Incredible!
many have just finished their 2 year of planting there and have grown considerably in that time. The pictures i have included show the leaves and now the flowers as of 4 days ago.
Can you ID this tree for me. They are standing at about 12 feet tall now.

    merci

    Agree.
Heptacodium miconioides is a wonderful plant with interesting veins on the leaves.
Just to explain, it actually flowered earlier in the year...maybe August/Sept
The flowers are white...see my pics below.
Now all the white petals have fallen and all that remains are the attractive red calyx.
As it grows it will have lovely flaking bark.
    All round a super shrub./tree.

There might be pearly turquoise-coloured (or peacock blue coloured) fruits at the centre of calyces.
