Would love some help identifying this tree that came up in my garden a few years ago. In the first few years it didnt get higher than 5 feet. Now its 2 floors high to the house.

Ash (Fraxinus). Will grow too large to remain where it is.

Thank you very much for solving the 3 year question! I'm surmising a squirrel or bird must have planted it as it just showed up in the garden & I was curious so I just left it to grow. I don't think it can be moved at this point or can it?

Probably more likely to have gotten there on the wind. If there are no utilities or structural features in the way, you are willing and able to make the effort it should be possible to dig it bare-rooted during the winter dormant season, put it in another spot. One that has room for a large shade tree.

You will have to stake it for one year after re-planting to keep it from toppling.
