This tree is in my neighbor's yard in Punta Gorda (southwest) Florida. He doesn't know what it is since it was there when he bought the house. Can anyone identify it?
Hi! Clerodendrum quadriloculare (P.S.: it is good to see some beautiful flowers, because here in Hungary I can see only snow now... :(((
Too bad this wonderful clerodendrum last out-7grade Celsius (20F). In Romania only go clerodendrum tricothomum, like! P.S. and in Romania snow,snow...and the freezing cold mind!
http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=97923&stc=1&d=1328752177 Here's several at Heathcote Botanical Gardens in Ft Pierce, Florida. I'm told this is their first flowering since the cold January and even colder December of 2010. This species fared even worse in Vero Beach, where many froze to the ground and are only now recovering. The lowest temperature in December 2010 was 26 F, -3 C.
I never saw these before last week when I was in the Ft Lauderdale/Miami area and saw lots of them. They all looked excellent - they're profuse bloomers and very showy. I thought maybe a little fragrant, but not nearly as fragrant as the Clerodendrum tricothomum. Finally one I could have identified, but I'm several days late! Hapylica, I've been reading about the unusual cold weather all over Europe, with at least a few more weeks of it predicted.
Wcuttler, is a bad cold to us but yesterday since I was in my garden in Amara and cleaned the snow hives. Exit holes were clogged with snow. I and my garden 2 clerodemdrum tricothomum purchase in 2011, can not wait to increase.First time I saw at Bucharest Botanical Garden!
