I have quite a few naturally growing dogwoods in my yard, and a young, about 3 ft tall, baby has started growing right underneath another, older dogwood. I would like to dig up the young tree to give it to a friend, but it is already on the verge of blooming. Does anyone know if it's o.k. for me to dig it up now, or do i need to wait until later in the year?

    All advice is welcome.

Move during dormant season, when leafless. Sounds like shoot growth is too advanced at this time.
