The first set (pics 1-3), a tree with green-purple foliage, was growing around 3000m in Ipiales Colombia, and reminds me of something in the Mimosoideae.

The second (pics 4-6) is in Quito at 2800m and although it strongly reminds me of Aloes, the foliage is that of the lily or onion family.

The third (pics 7 and 8) I suspect is a St. John's Wort or relative - Hypericum spp - any confirmations, or maybe even a hard ID? Am I out to lunch?

Thanks to all you fab folks!
