This strange-looking succulent plant took over the potted begonia I bought a year ago at an outdoor market. We live in the US in the southern part of Texas, Zone 9. I don't water it at all. It only gets water from rainfall but apparently doesn't require much to survive and thrive. I'm almost afraid of it. What is it?!

Thank you! I guess I had reason to be afraid of it since all parts are poisonous if ingested (not that I wanted to eat it at all).

the pic is too small to see the plant well...if it's supposedly a jade, then it's a crassula. there are tons and tons different types of crassula.

it looks more like a kalanchoe though - at least without being able to see more detail of the leaves, that is.

Its a widely grown Bryophyllum type Kalanchoe hybrid that has only recently been validly named Kalanchoe x houghtonii.
