I liked the looks of the plant in the first picture and potted it last fall. It died back over winter, but not completely. For scale: The pot is one of those 1 gallon nursery throw-aways. While I subscribe to the motto "if I like it, it is a valuable plant, - if not it is a weed", this does not help me to decide the best location for it. The plant in the second and third photo just sprouted up this spring, and I need to decide, if it is worth pulling up one of the pavers for, between which it is trapped. I took the top view to show the shape of the leaves and the side view to show the bristles on the stem. Again for scale that round hole in the near paver has a diameter of two inches. The leaves of both plants are a pale yellowish green. Thanks for you help, Olaf
Olaf, Thanks, guess that eliminates my idea then, was thinking maybe a pelargonium knowing little about them.
I finally got an answer on the identity of the plant in the first picture, after I dragged the pot with it to the local garden centre. It is 'feverfew' (tanacetum parthenium). It has daisy-like flowers and is, so the lady in the garden centre, 'very invasive'. So far it is growing only very slowly in that pot and is not yet blooming, but I conjecture, that the 'invasiveness' will come, after it drops its seeds. :) Best, Olaf
Yes, it looks like golden feverfew but that should I think smell. Otherwise I would have suggested it. As for invasive it pops up from seed where conditions suit it but will probably not flood your yard with its progeny.
Thanks Ron, I can sleep better now. ;) I don't know if I will keep it. The leaves look very pretty now, but some of the pictures I have seen suggest, that it will turn rather scraggly, once blooming and I am not particularly interested in its herbal properties.
