A friend of mine gave me these pictures the other day and asked me if I knew what this plant was that keeps appearing in her garden in New Westminster every year. It is perennial and it has a distinct odor to it........I have absolutely no idea!!! It probably grew from a bird dropping? Do you have any ideas?

Your friend has a Dracunculus vulgaris. I think it is called a Dragon arum. Not a very common plant but very interesting. It produces a bad smell to attract pollinators.
