I have a medium sized tree ( 10 feet high) growing in my yard. It has small leaves with parallel leafs on single stems off the main branch; it also has thorns on the main branches.

The seed pods look like a red elderberry but as the pods mature a black seed pops out and stays attached for a few days.

    What is this?

Yes, but I don't know how to attach it to the reply box.

    Thank you Michael F.

That is exactly the plant. How do you do this and so quickly? Impressive.
