Good morning R, no not at all, it was just the bright sunshine just at the right moment on the newly emerged leaf. Thanks for the comment, I was pleased with it.

Well after all the talk about strange weather conditions around the world, I was pleasantly surprised a few minutes ago to see in my garden some wet Springtime leaves from overnight, so along with some early sunshine as well, I took some photos, knowing I have some happy maples this morning.

@ROEBUK these are great.. Wondering what is the one closest to your stairs/ railing in front of the bright green one. It’s on the left hand side railing when looking at the stairs. Sorta reddish brown with pinks colour?

Here is a couple of mine. I've cut back some overhanging branches so it now gets direct sun from 3pm onwards. Seems to be growing well at least, so it likes it where it is!

I popped into the Hippo website this morning for a browse and then came back to it this evening... I've ended up with 5 plants in a basket and I'm very torn whether or not to bite. The usual "where the hell will I put all of these?" Conundrum!

    Looking at buying -
    Isobel.
    Hino Tori Nishiki.
    Kasagiyama.
    Hessei.
    Kamagata.

And here's my Manyo No Sato

Looks lovely! Nice colour contrast and levels... Maybe that's what I need to do, just do away with trying to underplant all my maples with different plants, and just fill all the space with more maples!

How much sun does it get? I had mine in full sun and it fairly quickly looked like your second pic all over the tree and lost all it's pink/red. I've moved it into a bit more shade and it's holding that green variegation now. I think it had more of a pink blush to it last year further into summer.
