south florida beauty

    can anyone identify this foliage i recently found in south florida? i really want to grow it in texas, if it will adapt well...

    It's a variegated ginger, someone else will remember its exact name. It won't adapt to Texas, but it may come already able to grow there (species may adapt, but individual plant specimens do not).

    It really does grow in Texas. Of course being so big it really depends.
    I'm not in Keller so I can't say for sure but it should grow from Houston,
    to Austin to San Angelo and El Paso southward at
    least. HTH Chris
    Alpinia zerumbet listed as (root) hardy Zone 8 and
    will flower in 9b and warmer.
