I took this close-up photo in early August of a large flowering shrub just when the tiny white blossoms were ending, and would like to know the name of the shrub. The additional two photos were taken today; you can see the stalks have fallen out, leaving just the dark purple leaves; and the size of the shrub relative to other plants. Help in identifying would be great.

    Thanks,

Cotinus coggygria, smoke bush. There are various cultivars.

Thanks. Further research as a result of your answer suggests "Royal Purple."
