Some kind of creeping plant

    Some kind of ground creeping vine? It grows on moist to wet ground by streams (6 inches long).

    Maybe watch for flowers and try again with a flowering specimen, when those appear.

    I believe it is Partridge Berry, Mitchella repens. It has red berries. Each berry is made by two flowers.

    I think you got it! I'm about 100% certain that's it from pictures and I looked up and what I read. Thanks.
